Tev-Tropin for Adults and Cost

Tev-Tropin is an amino acid-based, growth hormone medication for children and/or adults who

suffer from growth hormone deficiency and/or other causes prohibiting him or her from reaching a certain height in their age group. The medicine administered with a needle, or needle-free, device with the Tev Tropin in the vial attachment. Also known as form of Somatropin (synthetic growth hormone), Tev-Tropin is one of the many prescriptions that is prominently used to treat growth hormone deficiency in children.

In order to substitute the lack of growth hormones, Tev-Tropin consists
of an amino acid sequence and a strain of the bacterium Escherichia coli. Both are then modified to mimic the growth hormone found in the human pituitary gland. Skeletal growth, cell growth, tissue growth, muscle growth, and internal organ growth are all stimulated with this treatment, as well as an increase in regulation of various metabolisms in the human body.

Tev Tropin must be approved by your doctor before you or your child can receive the treatment. Once you are approved to begin treatment, the Tev Tropin treatment will be sent to you in the mail. This treatment includes a kit, complete with vials of the medicine and needle-free heads, and a new one is sent you every three months. Guardians of the child or the prescription recipient will receive a demo kit and training from a nurse trainer forwarded to his or her home from the Growth Solutions organization.

If you or your child suffers from any allergies, disorders, diseases, or illnesses, then your doctor will prescribe the medication accordingly and/or recommend an alternative treatment. It is emphasized that children who are obese, suffer from chronic respiratory issues, or have a lung infection should not use this medication. Patients who use Tev Tropin and suffer from scoliosis will be regularly monitored. Any patient who has recently suffered from physical trauma or had heart surgery should not use this treatment.

Tev Tropin is a powder-based medicine which is then mixed with Mannitol and a diluent consisting of >1% benzyl alcohol. The entire solution contains a pH level approximately in the range of 7.0 and 9.0. Benzyl alcohol found in this product may cause serious side effects to children receiving the treatment. Seizures, hypotension, “gasping syndrome”, or death have been associated with this ingredient.

Other possible side effects include, but are not limited to, dizziness, respiratory issues, allergic reactions, pancreatitis, high blood sugar, headaches, nausea, vomiting, changes in eyesight, and pain at the injection site. If you suffer from any of the side effects listed above or on the Tev Tropin label, then call your doctor as soon as possible.

In July 2011, the FDA reported this treatment as not being an indicated treatment for the growth hormone disorder, Prader-Willi Syndrome. The official Tep Trovin now states otherwise. Tep Trovin should be stored in a refrigerator and never used after the marked expiration date. Do not reuse injection devices or vials. Discard any unused portion of the dose. One injection per dose.
